There Is A First Time For Everything

I remember my first day of kindergarten. I recall the mixed feelings of excitement and anticipation that I had waiting for the big day. When the day came, those feelings of excite quickly evaporated. My mother led the way and held my hand as I shook like a leaf. I was so scared. I watched everyone with saucer wide eyes while walking on short stubby legs, stumbling and jogging to keep up. I remember feeling like I had walked into a land of giants as everyone towered over me. By days end, I didn’t want to leave. It was so much fun!

I recall the same feelings when it came time to release my debut novella, Better Than 8 Fantasy. Well I tell ya, I’ve got none of those anxiety…. okay, maybe a smidge. Or more than a smidge, maybe a kernel. Okay so whatever, I’m just saying, I’m excited ya’ll!! Today is launch day! It’s out! It’s available! You can see it. You can talk about. Recommend it to a friend. Shout it from the rooftops. Have the town crier break out his megaphone and announce it to the the whole world. Better Than 8 Fantasy is available today!!

The heroine in the story, Amara Simmons, experienced many firsts in this book. Despite being plagued with self doubt, she pursued what she wanted and she inspired me to do the same.

Wait … (scratching my head), did she inspire me or did I inspire her? Did anybody ever find out if the chicken came before the egg or vice versa? Anyhoo …. you can find it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, All Romance Books and Goodreads.

And you can read more about Better Than 8 Fantasy here.

My first day of fourth grade at a new school was hard; it was only my sixth school in four years. But I do remember liking my teacher and running around to play tag by the end of the day. I loved chasing those boys around the school yard! LOL

When visited Seattle for the first time last year, I tasted my first snickerdoodle cookie as I lined up for PAX… now I’m hooked, and have managed to get everyone I know in Australia addicted to them… you see most Aussies don’t know about snickerdoodles… Yum yum yum.

Congratulations on your book! How exciting! If I am chosen, I would like it in a pdf format. I remember the first time I tried to play the flute. I was in 5th grade and ready to learn this beautiful instrument. I opened the case and admired the silver shine. I picked up the three pieces and fitted them together, not knowing if I was doing it correctly. Then, I put the mouthpiece up to my lips and blew. No sound came out. I tried and tried again, and still nothing. What did happen, however, was me getting incredibly dizzy. 🙂 Days later, with instruction from our school band teacher, I could produce sounds out of my flute. It was exciting. 🙂

Thank you very much Ashley. I played flute for years and graduated to piccolo. They say that playing a flute is the hardest wind instrument to play. I dunno…the oboe looks a whole lot harder than the flute.

I have great news for you. You are a winner!!

You have won you very own copy of Better Than 8 Fantasy. I hope you enjoy it. If you like it alot, remember to tell your friends all about it. Tell them Amara wants to know, “If you could pick the size of your lover, would you sign up to betterthan8.com?”

I played clarinet but I did get to play with oboe reeds and a flute in band. I had an easier time with the oboe.
And since I’m on the topic of music, I remember the first time I picked up a tube mouth piece. OMG I swear I could fit my head in it! It was huge and to this day I can’t quite figure out how people play that instrument. (Of course I also couldn’t figure out how to purse my lips for a trumpet and that’s ten times smaller.)
If I’m picked to win I’d like epub please.
Oh and congrats on the release!

Thank you, thank Patricia. Giggle. Yeah I remember band. I will remember my band teach forever. He was soo funny although I think it was unintentional. Maybe. When we would march around he wanted us to march in chorus line style. Straight and crisp. When we would run through drills, he would call “About Face”. Then he’d come up to you with a grin. Ask you how your day was going. You know have a conversation. Then he’d ask you to turn to your other left. He was comical.

Thank you so much for sharing your first. You win my friend!! I hope you enjoy the book and tell all your friends about it. Check out my calendar of dates and past interviews. Thanks for stopping by!

HI Erin! Saw your post on Goodreads – congrats on your new release! My first time I remember the most is…the first time my book got published! I had worked so many years, with so many rejections and I finally got the call. Then it took two whole years for the book to be published. I remember getting the book in the box at my address and staring at my cover for hours. One of the best experiences of my life! Enjoy – your book sounds great.

I so know what you mean Jennifer. When I uploaded the book to Amazon, I fell into a ridiculous fit of laughter because I could now call myself an author. I also recall when I got the cover back. That was my name on the cover and it looked professional. I did that and it is pretty cool!!

I remember the first time I had to do a presentation for a group of my peers (all officers in a bank operations department). I’ve never been a very confident person, so I was extremely nervous; I managed to make it to the ladies room before I lost the contents of my tummy!! Never overcame the nervousness, but did finally stop losing the stomach contents ….

Congratulations on the release of your first bookl!

I can sympathize Karen. I had a project management class that I took and I had to present what we thought to be a viable option for the client. I was nervous and I have a habit of putting my hands in my pants to hide my shaking hands. I asked a rhetorical question and was completely thrown off guard when they answered me. I was a little flustered after that.

BTW, you win!! Congrats on winning your ebook copy of Better Than 8 Fantasy.
